We will learn the basic ones now. Asking for WHO, we ask “Wer?”. Example: Wer ist das? Who is that? Wer studiert Mathe? Simon studiert Mathe. Who studies math? Simon studies math. Asking for WHAT, we ask “Was?”. Example:Was hörst du? What are you listening (to)?Ich höre Nachrichten. I am listening (to) news. For A1 you can learn the following key sentences: Wie geht es dir? How are you?Wie spät ist es? What time is it?Wie sagt man das? How does one say it? Questions for direction and movement “Wo?” is the question word for activities, that are static, in English WHERE. Example: Wo wohnst du? Where do you live?
