The superlative is not so hard, especially after mastering the comperative. It simply is the highest form of an adjective.
The thing to remember is the following:
1) You can either use it as an adjective:
Er rennt am schnellsten. He runs the fastest.
2) But you can also use it in front of a noun (like normal adjectives too) but then you have to consider the declination of adjectives:
Er ist der schnellste Läufer in seiner Klasse. He is the fastest runner in his class.

When you use superlative in front of a noun, you do not need “am”!
But how do we compare similarities?
It is easy enough. Just use the following pattern:
A + V + (genau)so + Adj. + (O) + wie + B
Er spricht so gut Deutsch wie ich. He speaks as good German as I.
